Throughout each year, The Painted Turtle hosts special events and participates in fundraisers held by members of our local communities to benefit camp and increase awareness of our programs.

Fishing Derby, April 27

We opened our gates on April 27 for the Inaugural Painted Turtle Fishing Derby fundraiser. Within no time at all the lake was alive with the excitement of young and old trying to land the biggest fish of the day.  A busy morning of baiting, reeling and weighing ended with the largest catch-a monster catfish-weighing in at a whopping 9.6 lbs! The Derby was capped off by a delicious BBQ prepared by the wonderful Show Down Chefs.  A big thank you to our Event Catch Sponsor, Applied Medical, and to everyone who attended and made the event a splashtacular success! We are looking forward to next year. Stay tuned!

California Dreaming BBQ – Hosted by the North Los Angeles Region Board, September 7

Tour de Turtle, October 19

The Tour de Turtle bike ride is the fourth annual cycling event held at camp in Lake Hughes, CA on Saturday October 19, 2013. There are three fully supported rides to choose from: 18, 36 and 62 miles. The day will begin early Saturday morning with music and activities and continue through a lunch time celebration!
