When campers set foot on the camp site of The Painted Turtle,
they enter a world where fun and laughter are part of the remedy.
Staff
Upon their arrival, campers and their families are greeted by the Painted
Turtle’s exceptional staff. We carefully select our staff and volunteers,
individuals who have a vast amount of experience in working with children—specifically
children with life-threatening and chronic illness—to provide the
safest and most enjoyable summer camp experience ever. Our staff goes through
an extensive interview process, background screening, CPR and First Aid
training, as well as a comprehensive orientation program. Most importantly,
we choose a staff of people committed to the well-being and care of our
campers.
Camp Program
So what is a typical day like at camp?
The Painted Turtle programs are designed to provide campers with safe,
exciting activities that build self-esteem and confidence while encouraging
positive friendships and community. Our activities are unique, full of
surprise, and help campers to discover a magical, creative environment
that is supportive, challenging, and inclusive, fostering both personal
growth and exploration.
As campers participate in Painted Turtle activities they become their
greater selves. They dance, they sing, they paint, they laugh. They get
to be kids! Whether on horseback, flying through the air on a zip line,
or paddling in a boat down the lake, campers are sure to find a new treasure
inside themselves.
"you meet amazing people and the activities cannot be beat. The campground is amazing and it will be an experience you will never forget." -camper
Painted Turtle Activities
In addition to Arts and Crafts, Wood Shop, the Shamu Pool, Boating and
Fishing, Horseback Riding, Fun and Games, and Creative Arts, The Painted
Turtle also features several activity areas of our own creation: the Baking
Center and Pizza Patch, organic garden and apple orchard, the Discovery Program and Star Lab, to name a few. The Painted Turtle is committed to a rich and ever-evolving program that engages and stimulates our campers to become their greater selves.
The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. In the evening campers
find themselves at the campfire circle, County Fair, a long-ago medieval
banquet, a treasure hunt for a lost pot of gold, or strutting their stuff
on stage. There’s no end to what surprises await campers next.
At The Painted Turtle fun comes in every color.
