Volunteer Cabin Counselors live in the cabins with 8-10 campers and 3 other adult counselors. This position requires a 6-9 day commitment, depending on the length of the session.
Ideally, each cabin will have two Volunteer Counselors and two full-time counselors, collectively forming a team. Campers will not be able to distinguish between the volunteers and full-time staff.

FAMILY WEEKEND POSITIONS

Family Pals are assigned to one or two families and are their host, tour guide, friend, and extra set of hands! A Family Pal is like another member of the family, participating in the programs and activities and facilitating some much-needed family time. Family Pals also coordinate with the parents to give them some time off by supervising the campers on their own.  This position requires a 2 day commitment from Friday at 2:00 until Sunday at 4:00.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 19 years of age
  2. Physical and mental capability of caring for campers
  3. Availability to stay for the entire duration of the session (weekend)
  4. Knowledge of camp or camping experience (helpful)

Volunteer Program Pals (Family Weekends)

A Program Pal is a family weekend position in which you work in a specific program area, whether it be Woodshop, Arts & Crafts, Boating & Fishing, the Pool, Ropes Course, or Baking. All the activities will be designed beforehand by our staff; as a Program Pal, you are there to implement and facilitate the fun during activity times.  It is also the responsibility of the Program Pal to provide a safe, supportive, and fun environment for all our Painted Turtle campers and families.  Program Pals are also assigned to a family to offer support during meal-times and evening activities; it’s the best of both worlds!

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 19 years of age
  2. Experience in program area (helpful)
  3. Availability to stay for the entire duration of the session (6-9 days)
  4. Ability to work with staff, collaboratively and effectively

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 19 years of age
  2. Special skills related to program area
  3. Ability to create and lead workshops that are age-appropriate and interactive
